Just put it on my playlist

Music is something that is really important to James and me.  And Greyson has come to really love music in the past year or two as well.  Only, he loves OUR music, which is a mixed thing - we think he's a genius who has inherited our fantastic taste in music, but he thinks most songs he has to sing in school are "too silly," and used to refuse to sing with his preschool class citing that as his reason.  (And I have to admit, some of those songs ARE too silly, and I can't tell him otherwise without him knowing I am lying).  I mean, come on - what the heck is "A Tooty Ta"?!  Just hearing that song nearly sends me into a fit of rage.  Anyway, this morning on the way to school, we were listening to a CD that a friend made for me for my birthday recently, and I was happy as Greyson asked for a couple of the songs to be "put on his playlist."  This used to be an arbitrary playlist on our iTunes that he never really listened to, but with his growing interest in music, he recently got an iPod shuffle and actually listens to his playlist now.  Some of my proudest moments are when he hears a band we love, e.g. Ryan Adams or The National, and asks for a song to be "put on his playlist."  This morning, however, I got the feeling at one point that he was just asking me to do this in order to tell me what I wanted to hear and get me to stop talking.  An a capella song came on, and I began reminiscing about high school, and how music was such a huge part of my friends' and my life, and how one of my best friends (who Greyson knows) was in a nationally ranked a capella group in college, and how I hope he will be involved in music throughout school, etc.  As I took a trip down memory lane, explaining to him how awesome it is to be in love with music, he just said, "Ok, mom - just put it on my playlist and we'll see."

Overwhelmed, but ready to get started

So, I am finally here, ready to put into writing the things my amazing 6 year old has said through the years, entertaining friends and family, putting smiles on people's faces and brightening people's days.  Multiple people have encouraged me to write these "Greysonisms" down, and I regret not starting sooner - my personality is detail-oriented and thorough, and I have been scared to start this for fear of not remembering ALL of these gems.  So as I go along, and if you are inclined to follow, please remind me of something he's said to make you laugh along the way - I'm counting on my friends and family to help me out a bit here.  Now I must go overcome this paralysis and figure out the first story to share...
